Black Fungus

We all know that the whole world is fighting this pandemic. I would prefer to take proper care, precautions and stay home. We all are aware of the fungal infections which are spreading expeditiously (white fungus, black fungus, yellow fungus). So today let's find out what actually is a Black fungus.

What is black fungus?

Black fungus is also called mucormycosis. There are 4 Invasive Fungal Infections togetherly known as IFI. Mucormycosis, Aspergillosis, Candidiosis, and Cryptococcosis are groups of four Invasive Fungal Infections. This fungal infection is seen as coinfection or opportunistic infection. Mucormycosis does not happen to a normal healthy person. It happens to people who have health-related problems or who have medicines that lower the body's ability to fight germs and sickness.

People with weak immune systems should stay safe and enhance their immunity systems. Mucormycosis is one of the groups of fungi called mucormycetes. This group of fungi is mainly found in soil and is also abundantly present in the natural environment. The fungal infection affects the part of the skin, also affects the brain and lungs. It may also influence the whole body if the patient is already affected by some serious or more diseases at the same time.

SYMPTOMS:

1. Redness of eyes.

2. Blurred or double vision.

3. Puffiness of face.

4. If it affects blood vessels it can also lead to a stroke or firstly you'll feel dizziness and then stroke.

REMEDIES: There are some specific drugs for this disease. But it depends on how it gets diagnosed. If treatment is started quickly then it may get a cure but if it is delayed then the mortality rate may go above 50% and then the person may die.

Black fungus or mucormycosis is not a communicable disease i.e it does not spread from person to person. It is an infectious disease. The black fungus spreads through the spores which are present around us. But a healthy person cannot come in contact with ordinary mucormycosis. It happens only if the person has more diseases just like we are facing in COVID-19. Diabetes, overuse of antibiotics, and steroid use may also lead to black fungus. And just because of the mixture of all diseases a person gets influenced by mucormycosis. It may also happen through ventilation systems or hospital outbreaks, laundry systems, and air condition systems.

Common questions about Black fungus:

1. Will every COVID patient may get affected by Black Fungus?

Recently there are 3,00,000+ active Covid cases (approx. value). Recently there are 9000+ patients we can conclude that only selective patients will get affected by Black Fungus.

2. If a person was affected by Black fungus and now he/she has recovered then will there be some long-term side effects?

Currently, there are no side effects but there may be side effects such as loss of eyes, Face can get disfigured.

3. Can Black Fungus cause death?

Yes. The black fungus can surely cause death. Nearly there are 9000+ black fungus patients and if treatment is delayed then the mortality rate may go above 50% and it may cause death. ICMR ( Indian Council of Medical Research) has also given advice and all states of our country are alerted. Black fungus is also declared as a notifiable disease (a disease that is required by law to be reported to government authorities). We should take proper care of ourselves. Boost up our Immunity System.

4. If you are already fighting with some other disease then which precautions that person should take so that he/she doesn't get affected by mucormycosis?

He/she should pay attention to diabetes, sugar level, diet and he/she should regularly start doing workouts. Mainly pay attention towards her/his health system.

5. What is the age that mainly gets affected by black fungus?

It will mainly affect the elderly person as elders are mainly seen to be affected by diabetes and etc.

This blog delves into this dilemma, exploring the pros and cons of taking a drop year versus continuing the journey without delay. Pros of Taking a Drop: 1. Improvement Opportunity: A drop year offers precious time for introspection and targeted improvement. It allows students to identify weaknesses, refine study strategies, and deepen their understanding of crucial topics. 2. Reduced Pressure: The relentless pressure of NEET preparation can take a toll on students' mental and emotional well-being. Taking a drop year provides a breather, alleviating stress and foste...

Astrobiology

The study of the origins, evolution, distribution and future of life in the universe is known as astrobiology .  Astrobiology, previously known as exobiology, is a multidisciplinary science that investigates the origins, early evolution, distribution, and future of life in the universe. Astrobiology is the study of whether or not alien life exists, and if so, how we can detect it .  This interdisciplinary field necessitates a thorough knowledge of biological, planetary, and cosmic events. The quest for habitable environments in our Solar System and on planets orbiting other stars, as well as the search for evidence of primordial chemistry or life, is all part of astrobiology. Searching for evidence of prebiotic chemistry or life on Solar System worlds such as Mars, Jupiter's moon Europa, and Saturn's moon Titan; and studying the origins, early evolution, and assortment of life on Earth.  Astrobiology combines molecular biology, biophysics, biochemistry, chemistry, ...
